Expectations

In what has become a very infrequent habit I am setting down in writing my thoughts for the coming year. I have been tempted by trying another 365 photo project this year, but not only do I think I won't have the time to fulfil such a commitment, I feel that it is more likely to curb my creativity than give it a fresh spark. Therefore, photo-wise I will simply be taking my camera with me more, and taking it out more to capture the world around me.

I make no commitment to blogging more, although I'm already one post up on last year. It won't be hard to do more.

I have learnt that resolutions linked to the start of a year are much more likely to fail. If you start something purely because you want to do it, you might just stick at it. On that note, I will continue to run, as I have been since November, as I love the feeling of freedom it gives me; I've never felt so alive.

I will mainly be occupying myself with my degree again this year. It seems to be going well. I'm hoping for continued success.

Here's to the year that sees the end of being twenty-something and the start of thirty-something, I'm hoping for a good one.

A New Years' Resolution

So, after testing Blogger-Droid successfully I am putting into writing a New Years' resolution in the hope that this will help me stick to it.

I am committing to a 365 in 2011. I'm not going to put too many parameters on it, because that'll only make it harder to stick to.

So here's to 2011, a year to remember, potentially in photos.

March and April, all at once

Clearly March was not a particularly good month photo-wise for me. I need far more stringent challenges, or the photos just don't happen. It shows that it's taken me until mid-April to even tell you what my project was for March!

Subject/Theme: Old and New
Lens/Focal length: Standard zoom
Time of day/lighting: Sunset

So, on that unsucessful note I can tell you that I've picked a project for April and I'm hoping that in a short time frame I can come up with something (anything) that is creative and stretches my imagination.

Subject/Theme: Detail
Lens/Focal length: Prime
Time of day/lighting: Dawn

Thankfully I am naturally a lark so in theory the time of day shouldn't cause me too many problems. I'll be out and about with my camera looking for inspiration whilst the rest of the world sleeps!

In retrospect

February's project was quite an adventure, I certainly took my camera out and about more than usual, which really is the purpose of my 2010 project, however the triptych technique is one that I'll be working on to improve. I'd say this is probably my most successful of the project, which shows various items on display in the Pitt Rivers Museum, and Museum of Natural History in Oxford.
I shall try this again without the stringent settings of my project - the low light and prime lens was a little restrictive, but certainly got me trying new techniques!
I shall pick my new project tonight or tomorrow and will post it here in case anyone wishes to join in!

February's Project

Well, January's project was entirely a success, in fact I only went out on one occasion to take photos for the project. I still have a couple of shots that I might edit for the project, but the better ones are certainly already on Flickr.

I'm hoping for more inspiration this month, and can tell you that I have already started, and have ideas for several other shots, so I have lots of hope!

Subject/Theme: 3 Shots, 1 Location
Lens/Focal Length: Prime
Time of Day/Lighting: Low Light
